New Release + Review: Winning My Best Friend’s Girl by Piper Rayne

Release Date: July 21

Imagine lying in a hospital bed and the doctor who pulls the curtain back to treat you is the one who got away. Even if you never really had her in the first place. She’s not only your high school crush, she’s the ex-girlfriend of your ex-best friend. The one girl you’ve always wanted.

Here’s a step-by-step list to finally win her over…
Key to win #1:  Try not to take offense that she snuck back into town without telling you—six months ago.
Key to win #2: Rekindle the friendship to ease the awkwardness. But… DO NOT enter the friend zone.
Key to win #3: Ignore the fact that she went speed dating the night before. Take it as good a sign—maybe she’s looking for a relationship.
Key to win #4: Attempt to keep the two of you out of the town gossip blog and away from your large family.

Make sure you don’t let this last one throw you off your mission.

Key to win #5: Don’t get deterred when you find out the past is about to repeat itself. Because the man she met at the speed dating night is your best buddy from work.

Just remember, you sat back and let her slip away once, you won’t do it a second time.

Failure is not an option.

My Review:

Winning my Best Friend’s Girl is one that I’ve been waiting for! We’ve gotten bit and pieces and teasers of Kingston and Stella’s history, but I was so happy to finally get it in my hands.

King and Stella have been friends since the days Stella moved to Lake Starlight at age 10. Both having suffered  a huge loss of a parent, or in Kingston’s case both parents, these two having had a connection since the day they met. Their friendship is strong, along with Owen. Things change once Owen and Stella start going out. However, the bond and built up sparks between Stella and Kingston is always simmering there under the surface.

Now it’s 8 years since Stella has left Lake Starlight. Once Kingston finds out she is back in town, all those pent up feelings come rising to the surface. The problem? Stella has just gone out with a new guy, Lou, who just happens to be friends with Kingston.

Kingston and Stella have the ultimate slow burn romance. They have these immense feelings and love toward each other but have never acted on in. They way these two circle each other, while having to navigate that through the watchful eye of their mutual friends creates this huge buildup. Having to shared a house in the mountains with these friends allows them the chance at being friends again first. I love the push and pull these two have. Piper Rayne did a wonderful job at writing a diverse character Stella. While Stella and Kingston are an interracial couple, that isn’t the focal point and I’m so glad. It’s mentioned, but is a non issue because that’s what it is.

I’m getting sad as the Bailey series starts to come to an end. We have one more book left, and the teasers Piper Rayne make me want to scream. I can’t wait to get the last book!!
