My 5 Star Review:

Gypsy King was an absolutely phenomenal book. Devney Perry has written another 5 star book. There is something about the way she writes that just completely sucks you into the the story. Her books have a little something of everything. There’s humor and banter, some emotional feels, lots of sexy times and throw in a bit of mystery. It’s the makings of an incredible story!

Kingston “Dash” Slater was introduced in The Clover Chapel. Since that first glimpse of him I’ve been dying to get his story. When Devney said it was coming, I was ecstatic.. He’s so cocky and full of swagger. His good looks and personality give him that in charge aura. He’s one the up and up now legally. With the Tin Gypsies officially disbanded, he’s living the life of an honest man.

Then Bryce Ryan comes to town. She parents own the local paper and she’s a journalist that used to be an TV Anchor. She’s looking for a story, and she sets her sights on finding out why the Tin Gypsies are no more. What she didn’t expect was the off the charts sexual chemistry she would have with Dash.

These two together are explosive. They could melt the words off pages lol. I never wanted to put the book down. We also get a look in to the next book in the series and I’m sitting on the edge of my seat. I CANNOT WAIT FOR IT!!

My Review:

Code of Conduct is the first book I’ve read by April White. I really enjoyed her writing. She created wonderful characters that keep you engaged. The banter between Gabriel and Shane was great.

This book has so much that I loved! Great storyline, wonderful characters. It was fun and sexy. Cipher Security is a new world for me, I’ve never read any of the them until now. I’m definitely going back and reading them. Code of Conduct was a great introduction.

Loved this story!

I pulled up the audio version of the newest Iron Druid book, turned my phone on speaker, and when the tub was full, I sank into the hot water with a sigh. Luke Daniels could read a shampoo bottle and I’d listen, but my mind kept drifting off of Atticus’ and Oberon’s adventures, and was instead hopping from rock to rock in the garden of ADDATA, the Quimbys, and Gabriel. I wasn’t even annoyed when the phone rang and interrupted the story, because I knew I’d have to go back to the beginning of the chapter anyway. It was on its fourth ring when I finally dried off my hand and reached to answer it, so I hit the speaker button just as I looked at the screen. Gabriel’s name startled me so much I didn’t say anything – I just sat up in the tub and stared at the phone. “Please say you’re not in the bath.” Gabriel’s voice was quiet, deep, and had a note of pleading in it. “What do you want, Gabriel?” I moved again, and the water sloshed around me. I knew he could hear it because he groaned softly. “Where to begin.” It was almost a whisper, and the words sent a shiver through me. He cleared his throat and continued in his normal, beautiful voice. “We had a call from Quimby. He said he’d found you and wondered what we were going to do about it.” I didn’t say anything, and the silence lasted two long heartbeats. “Are you okay?” he finally asked, quietly. “He saw me turn from Bryn Mawr onto Sheridan. I lost him in the alleys.” Gabriel exhaled. “Good.” “Aren’t you supposed to be finding his money? Or his wife? Or something else he misplaced?” “Do you have his money or his wife?” he asked “No.” “Okay.” “Okay? What exactly do you want from me, Gabriel?” I sat forward and the water sloshed again. I traced the ripples with my fingers as I heard his sigh. “I don’t know. I just know that every time you move, I hear the water in your bath, and I imagine …” He exhaled sharply. “Be careful, darling. I don’t trust Quimby not to try to hurt you if he can. Don’t let him catch you.” “You haven’t caught me yet, and you’re far more resourceful than that little man.” He chuckled softly. “Yet.” He hung up the phone without saying goodbye, and Luke Daniels’ voice returned, continuing the story as I sank down in the water and let its heat lap over the chills on my skin.

“Naomi?” My hands cover her shoulders, holding her steady. “This is all my fault.” Her eyes widen, the widest I’ve ever seen. Panic fills them. “What do you mean?” “I … I can’t believe this happened again.” Her hands come to my chest, and she gently pushes at me. “You have to get out of here.” “What?” My brows pinch at the harsh tone. “You need to go. I can’t be near you.” Her voice struggles to stay level. Ouch. That stings a little. “Why?” I take one step back under the force of her hands. “I can’t be around you. This can’t happen.” “Lady, what are you talking about?” My voice roughens. “Bad things always happen after I’m with you.” I stiffen, straightening to my full height. My arms cross and I glare down at her. Saying such a thing is just downright mean. Her head shakes as her fingers curl along the open edges of my work jacket. Suddenly, I feel like she’s tugging me to her instead of pressing me away. What the … “When I’m with you, something happens. Something bad.” Her breath catches. “Because we kissed, the library is closing.” I stare at her. She can’t be serious, but I see the hysteria in her eyes, like a rabid, trapped animal. She actually believes what she says. “Well, we didn’t kiss,” I remind her, my tone stern and condescending. “I kissed you, remember? And you didn’t kiss me back, so I don’t think it counts.” She glares up at me, her fingers still gripping my open jacket. Her shoulders fall, her head lowers, and it’s as if I can visibly see her relax, like water cascading down a building, washing over her. Exhale. Settle. Exhale. Calm. “I didn’t kiss you back?” she questions and then her head pops up again. She nearly shrieks with the hesitant realization. Commence inhaling, like she’s winding up again. Full steam ahead. “I didn’t kiss you back,” she repeats, her excitement growing. Another exaggerated inhale. “I didn’t kiss you back!” Now, she’s just downright gloating, and the engine’s ready to blow. “You don’t have to sound so pleased,” I murmur. I glance up and notice Mrs. MacIntyre watching us through the window of the librarian’s office behind the check-out counter. Her eyes narrow and I’m certain we’re making too much noise for her liking. “I … I’m so relieved,” Naomi admits, her head falling forward, her fingers loosening on my jacket. Then her face turns up again. Her lids lift, slow and lazy. Her mouth curls in sweet relief, and she pulls herself up on her toes by the open edge of my jacket and does the damnedest thing. She kisses me.

Blog Tour: Happy Trail by Daisy Prescott

"Happy Trail was a feel good, funny and heartwarming adventure with the usual Daisy Prescott charm.."-- T. Gephart, USA Today bestselling author

Happy Trail, an all-new opposites attract standalone romance from USA Today bestselling author Daisy Prescott, is available now!

20190718_GVPR01_Happy Trail_Prescott_KDP_FINAL
A man of few words, Ranger Jay Daniels values the calm, quiet solitude of the Great Smoky Mountains. Never quite fitting in with either side of his family, he prefers the company of birds and trees to people.
Yeah, he’d most definitely prefer a bird—any bird, any bird at all, take a vulture for instance—to the human-tornado hybrid that just blew onto his peaceful stretch of the Appalachian Trail.
The path of true love never has run smooth for Olive Perry. After getting dumped and promptly abandoned in the middle of her multi-month hike, Olive swears off men. Determined to finish the long trek by herself, she doesn’t need a prince—or broody and taciturn ranger—to save her.
Yet, when an early snowstorm threatens the mountains, and Ranger Daniels is charged with getting hikers to safety, that includes hot-tempered Olive Perry. Snowed in and forced to share an abandoned cabin, can Olive’s heated intensity melt Jay’s cool reserve?
And if so, will this happy trail lead to true love? Or will their time together be just another bump in the road?
'Happy Trail' is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book#1 in the Park Ranger series.

My 5 Star Review:

Happy Trail is the first book that I’ve read by Daisy Prescott and another wonderful book from smarty pants romance.

I am in love with everything in this story! The characters are so wonderful. Olive is a little goofy, sarcastic, and just so refreshing. While we get a back story on how she came to hike the AT, we see that she wasn’t always this way. Born privileged in New York, she’s isn’t the same rich girl she once was.

Jay is smart, sweet and a bit, on a lot, of an introvert. With him preferring to be alone in trails, Ranger Jay is the opposite of Olive. He’s most reserved. His love of his job, the park and bird makes him so easy to love.

These two find shelter together during a downpour of snow. While in their little shack they talk and get to know one another. While it seems like a slow build up, it’s hard to believe they only spent two nights there.

Happy Trail is definitely a 5 star read for me. I never wanted to put it down. A great story without too much of all the drama that tears couples apart.

“Can we drop the pretense of not being trapped on the wrong side of the fence with whatever bloodthirsty beast is making such a sound?” I squint into the distance, hoping narrowing my eyes will give me super strength vision. It doesn’t. I step behind Ranger Daniels for protection. “What are you doing?” He twists his neck to look down at me. “Hiding. I believe you took an oath to protect and serve.” “Pfft. You’re confusing me with a police officer. I’m here to engage, educate, and empower.” He moves so he’s beside me. “You carry a gun, don’t you?” “Sometimes. Do you see a holster now?” I scan his hips and shake my head, allowing my eyes to linger on the tight fit of his uniform pants over his strong thighs and the thick belt at his narrow waist. Ranger Daniels is packing heat, but not of the pistol variety. Is it hot in here, or is it just me? A distinct braying reaches my ears. “Is that a donkey?” I tip my head. “What would a donkey be doing up here? Makes no sense.” “Ask him. Or her.” I point at the gray beast moving toward us. “I’m a city girl, but I’m pretty sure that’s an ass.” “Well, I’ll be damned.” Jay removes his hat. Maybe he plans to shoo away our attacker with it? The gray form ambles toward us, letting out a loud bray and revealing large teeth. “Should we be worried?” I’m standing behind Jay again. “About a donkey? They’re mostly docile. He’s probably just curious.” Shifting his attention forward, he addresses our new friend. “Hey there. Where’d you come from?” The donkey halts. “See? He’s fine. Probably thinks we’re bringing treats.” “And what will he do when he realizes we’re showing up to his house empty-handed?” I’m half mocking. In my world, not bringing a hostess gift is an unthinkable breach of etiquette. I have no idea about the social decorum for equines. “Let’s go.” Jay encourages me forward with a sweep of his hat. We take several steps and the donkey does the same without breaking eye contact, like we’re about to duel. There’s definitely a challenge, a mild threat in the eyes of our new foe. “Should we slowly retreat to the fence?” I whisper at Jay’s back. “Nah, we’re fine.” “Maybe he’s a guard donkey.” I slide a glance over my shoulder toward safety. We’re a dozen or so yards away, but it isn’t too late to make a quick escape. Jay’s eyes meet mine. “You know guard donkeys aren’t a thing.” “I’m a stranger in a strange land—anything’s possible.” I wait until he faces forward to stick my tongue out at him. He’s shaking his head and clearly not paying attention to me anymore as he stomps across the squishy field. Left with no choice, I follow after him. My boot slips in the mud, or donkey poop—it’s impossible to tell the difference. I squawk and flail my arms as I tumble forward in an awkward motion resembling the mating dance of an emu. The donkey’s ears prick up before flattening against his head. “Uh oh,” I murmur as I straighten up. “It’s fine,” Jay says for the dozenth time. Only he’s wrong.

First love.
First guy I slept with.
First heartbreak when he dumped me without explanation.
A decade later, it’s just my luck he’s the first guy I run into after moving back to my hometown of Charleston. Three piece suit, tie, and a watch worth more than my car--being a mogul looks good on Ford. So does being a doting dad to his adorable four-year-old daughter.

What started out as fun between the sheets gets really serious, really fast. Problem is, I swore I’d never give up the dreams I worked so hard for to settle down and do the family thing.
But seeing Ford light up around his daughter--seeing how he’s chasing his ambitions while rocking fatherhood--is making me rethink what I want out of life.
It doesn’t help that behind his corporate veneer is the bad boy I fell in love with. And bad boys aren’t afraid to play dirty...or break hearts.

My Review:

My favorite book of the series!!  This second chance romance mixed with sexy single dad is everything I love about romance. Ford and Eva have super hot insane chemistry.

They were together for a few years in college over 10 years ago. While it ended up in heartbreak, things are different now. They are both older and wiser. I loved both characters. Ford’s a widow and dad to an adorable 4 year old.  Eva is an author and amazing pit master.

Being throw together after all these year is like fate. Or as Ford puts it “star crossed”. From the sexy scenes to the sweet time spent together with this daughter, Ford and Eva are the perfect couple.

A perfect 5 star book that is a must read!!!

My Review:

So this book had both high and low points for me. I instantly loved Rian. She is so incredibly likable and funny. Her quick wit and sarcasm was so incredibly hilarious. While she was self described as morbidly obese, I felt that she didn’t need to constantly repeat it.

Carlos, oh complicated Carlos. He was not my favorite person. I felt that in the beginning he was the most shallow person I’ve ever read about.

Yes, this book was a slow burn, yes I definitely  enjoyed reading it, but it took almost until the very end for me to warm up to him. Rian on the other hand, I was in her corner from the beginning. So her weight struggles to her issues with her family. Her relationship with her trainer was also so fun to read. Their banter was great.

I enjoyed the book but it earned a 3.75 stars from me. I just wish we got to see them getting to know each other more that just jumping into a relationship.

About M.E. Carter
My name is ME Carter and I have no idea how I ended writing books. I’m more of a story teller (the more exaggerated the better) and I happen to know people who helped me get those stories on paper. I love reading (read almost 200 books last year), hate working out (but I do it anyway because my trainer makes me), love food (but hate what it does to my butt) and love traveling to non-touristy places most people never see. I live in Houston with my four kids, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who was just a twinkle in my eye when I came up with my pen name. Yeah, I’ll probably have to pay for his therapy someday for being left out.

My 5 Star Review:

Oh my goodness!!! This book gave me all the giddy feels.. it was super cute and very festive. A super sweet story that will definitely remind you of a Hallmark movie, what’s not to love.

Charlie is a little grumpy, a workaholic and doesn’t like Christmas. Candice is the complete opposite. She’s so surgery sweet and nice to everyone. It’s literally impossible not to love her. Trust me, I tried lol. Can anyone been that nice without being annoying? I thought for sure I’d get sick of it, but no, I loved her sweet innocence and her kind, giving heart. She surrounds herself by plenty of loyal friends. Together these two balance each other out so well.

This series has quickly become one of my favorites!!

I go chasing after Charlie, thankful he hasn’t hopped back on that ATV and torn out of here. He’s headed straight for the giant red building, and I follow behind, having to pick up my step since one of his long strides equals about three of mine. He’s just so stinkin’ tall. And handsome. And gruff. And he smells good. Have I mentioned that? He smells like a pine tree, of course, and his scent is mouth-wateringly delicious. Ugh. I hate myself sometimes. He pushes open the door of the building almost violently, sending it swinging wide, and I sneak in behind him, causing him to turn and practically snarl at me when he realizes I’m standing in front of him. But I forget all about his snarl when I see how enchanting this room is. It’s not an office, but an actual store, filled to the brim with holiday decorations and knickknacks for sale. Candles are burning—I can smell cinnamon and spice wafting in the air. The scent of the real pine trees laden with ornaments standing in the room also lingers, and I breathe deep, closing my eyes for a moment so I can take it all in. When I open my eyes, it’s to find Charlie standing there, his hands on his hips, his brow lowered. “Are you okay? That head injury still flaring up and giving you trouble?” I roll my eyes. “No, you idiot. I’m enjoying the festive atmosphere.” Oh, that was mean. I shouldn’t have said that. But I don’t think he even noticed. I slowly turn in a circle, pure delight flowing through my veins. I don’t know what to look at first, it’s all so beautiful. And there are layers upon layers of decorations. On the walls, cluttering shelves and tabletops, overflowing giant baskets. And of course there are the trees. They almost sag with their bounty of sparkling ornaments and twinkling lights. It would probably take me hours to explore it all, and I’m dying to start my exploration right at this very moment. “This store is so adorable!” “My sister Victoria runs it.” He glances over at the counter where the register sits, but no one’s there. “I don’t know where she’s at, though. Maybe you could talk to her about—whatever it is you want to talk about.” No way is he pushing this agenda onto his sister. Isabel wants Charlie to do this, and no one else. “We’ve wasted the past five minutes with you huffing and puffing and refusing to speak to me.” I reach into my large bag and pull the folder out I wanted to show him. “Give me ten minutes. That’s all I need to talk about what we’re going to do over the next few weeks.” He grimaces. Sighs. Tugs the cap off his head, all that gorgeous hair spilling across his forehead, and my fingers literally itch at the chance to push it out of his eyes. But I restrain myself. Barely.
